Srinagar April 29: Asif Faiz Mir, a resident of Lal Bazar area of Srinagar is a young singer and a guitarist of Kashmir who has made his own identity with his talent and voice.
Asif said that he developed interest in guitar during his school days.
The 27-year-old said even after the refusal from the parents on choosing guitar as career , he did not stop pursing his passion .
“I would learn guitar secretly, without informing my family and participated in competitions. For three months when I would leave home with the guitar and would hide it inside the Pheran so that no one can see me carrying it,” he said.
Ultimately, Asif ended up winning his family and friends hearts. In 2018 he started working with Doordarshan Srinagar where he worked as a guitarist/guitar artist. In 2019, he got first rank as the best guitarist of the year in an event titled “Sunzal” at University of Kashmir.
Asif said after the struggle, the biggest milestone in his life came when he shared stage with famous Bollywood singer Salman Ali .
The young guitarist has also worked with famous singers in India and due to his immense talent has achieved the fame that he had never dreamed of.
He said he had an opportunity to get felicitation from Sukhwinder Singh, an internationally acclaimed Indian playback singer in presence of Lieutenant Governor in Srinagar.
Asif had the privilege of working with names like Al-Tamish Faridi and the Sabri Brothers which are noted in Bollywood. He won the title of Best Guitarist by participating in a famous show ‘Shooriya’ organized by Music Studio, which took him to the heights of success.
Asif is not only a guitarist but also an excellent singer. While following his passion he did not lose focus on his academics and pursued B.Tech while working as a guitarist.
Asif has carved his own niche and is a well known musician/guitarist known for winning hearts of thousands of music lovers.
His latest song “Wallah Mye Wadan Gash Satyove…” has got over 22,000 views on YouTube.
The young singer said despite facing difficulties he has proved that no one can be stopped from pursuing their passion and dream.
Asif has done several shows at national and international level as well.
