Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A Police spokesperson said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shri Showkat Ali-JKPS during patrolling at Choolan Uri intercepted two suspicious persons who tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. During search, 30 grams of Brown Sugar and 40 grams of Charas like substance were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Faizan Ahmad Najar son of Manzoor Ahmad Najar and Ishtiyaq Ahmad Ahanger son of Gh Nabi Ahanger, both residents of Noorkhah Uri. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
“Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Uri and further investigation has been initiated”, he said.
