Rajouri, March 18: The Department of Civil Engineering, SoET, Baaba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) India hosted a webinar on G 20 “Energy and Environment”. Dr Amir Mazhar, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, delivered the lecture.
Dr Pervez Alam, Coordinator, Department of Civil Engineering, introduced the speaker and theme of the lecture. He thanked BGSBU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akbar Masood for approving the webinar.
In his message, Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor said that India’s G20 Presidency is a matter of pride for every citizen of the country. He appreciated the efforts of the faculty and students of the Department of Civil Engineering for their dedication and hard work in organizing this event. The VC said he is confident that this webinar will be an enriching experience for all the attendees and encourage everyone to actively participate in the discussions and Q&A sessions.
In his talk, Dr. Amir Mazhar stated that waste-to-energy is a promising technology that has the potential to generate clean energy from waste. “It can help in reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, and at the same time, provide a source of clean energy. However, it is important to ensure that waste-to-energy systems are well-designed, properly operated, and carefully monitored to minimize their environmental impacts,” he said.
An interactive session ensued in which the faculty members, research scholars and students attending the webinar, posed questions that led to an insightful academic engagement. This webinar was brought to a conclusion by a vote of thanks from Mr Rahid Wani.
The webinar was attended by Dr Pervez Alam, Coordinator, Department of Civil Engineering, Mr Vaseem Ahmad Shahnaz, Mr Zishan Aslam, Dr Nasir Ah. Rather, Mr Shahid Ul Islam, and Mr Ameer Ullah Ganai, Assistant Professor Department of Civil Engineering, as well as students from various departments. Ms Dua Baba, an 8th-semester civil engineering student, hosted the event.
