Baramulla, March 06: The district administration Baramulla has mandated that all public vehicles in the district display ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS’ signage and helpline numbers.
In an effort to combat drug abuse, various departments have started pasting such signage on the vehicles.
An official told Rising Kashmir that the decision came in the wake of the rising drug addiction in the district, which has been a cause of concern for authorities.
“The move is aimed at creating awareness among the public and encouraging them to seek help if they or someone they know is struggling with drug addiction,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar in a tweet said, “All public vehicles in Baramulla to carry SAY NO TO DRUGS signages and Help Line numbers.”
Officials said the signage will display the message “SAY NO TO DRUGS” in bold letters along with a helpline number that people can call if they need assistance or want to report drug-related activities.
The move has been widely welcomed by the public, with many lauding it as a step in the right direction.
Various departments, including the police and transport, have already started pasting the signage on public vehicles.
