Srinagar, July 16: Srinagar Municipal Corporation has taken a significant step towards managing the population of stray dogs and ensuring the safety of its residents by implementing the Animal Birth Control and Anti Rabies Vaccination Programme (ABC/ARV programme).
According to a veterinary officer, the initiative aims to curb the overpopulation of stray dogs while eliminating the threat of rabies transmission within the community. Presently, the sterilization of stray dogs is being carried out in Ward No. 12 (Hazrat Bal).

He added that under this comprehensive program, stray dogs that undergo sterilization are also provided immunization against Rabies. These dogs will then be returned to the same area or locality from where they were picked up, ensuring continuity and stability in their surroundings. By controlling the population and vaccinating against Rabies, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation aims to create a safer and healthier environment for all residents.

The Animal Birth Control and Anti Rabies Vaccination Programme is a crucial measure in safeguarding public health and welfare. Stray dogs, when left uncontrolled, can pose risks to both humans and other animals, leading to various public health concerns. By implementing this program ward-wise, the Municipal Corporation can effectively address the issue and mitigate the associated risks.

The success of this program relies on the cooperation of all residents of the city. The Srinagar Municipal Corporation requests the support of its citizens in promoting this initiative. By spreading awareness and providing necessary assistance, the community can actively contribute to the effective management of stray dogs and the prevention of Rabies.

For any queries or concerns regarding the Animal Birth Control and Anti Rabies Vaccination Programme, residents can contact the Srinagar Municipal Corporation at the following helpline numbers: 7889334951, 9103828307, and 7006276005.
