Srinagar, Feb 08: A week long training programme on “Business planning and appraisal for small-scale agri-startups” commenced on Wednesday, here at SKUAST Kashmir.
Organised by School of Agricultural Economics & HBM under SKUAST-Kashmir Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship (SKIIE) Centre, the program is being sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
At the outset Dr. Omar Fayaz Khan, Asst. Prof. and Programme Organizer gave an outline of the programme. He highlighted the benefits of the programme and advised participants to utilize the learning for this programme in successful business planning.
Prof. S. H. Baba, Head, School of Agricultural Economics and Horti-Business Management, SKUAST-K deliberated about the design of the programme and talked about its importance in an upcoming era where the possibilities of job cuts in the formal sector would be higher. He highlighted the importance of acquiring advanced business skills for self-employment.
Prof. S. A. Wani, Dean, Faculty of Horticulture briefly shared experience of various countries and their approach towards encouragement of entrepreneurship. He discussed the various tools for the appraisal of various activities of the business. His delivery was highly motivating for the participants of the programme.
Prof. Haroon R. Naik, Director, Planning & Monitoring while highlighting the scope of the training programme unveiled the business potential in agro-based activities and gave instances of sensor technologies and AI based operation within agriculture systems.
The session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Omar F Khan, Asst. Prof., School of Agricultural Economics and Horti-Business Management, SKUAST-K.
