GDC Eidgah organises seminar on “Conservation and Restoration of lake water bodies of UT of J&K”

Srinagar, Mar 21:One day National Seminar cum Workshop on “Conservation and Restoration of lake water bodies of UT of J&K” organized by Government Degree College Eidgah and S&T Department. Scientists, Academicians, Scholars and Students from different institutes have participated in daylong event that was aimed to find a solution to this pressing problem. 
 
The seminar aimed to demonstrate the linkages between conservation and restoration approaches towards a sustainable future. Dr. Javid A Parray, Assistant Professor Govt Degree College Eidgah and convener, who apprised the audience with the basic theme of the seminar delivered introductory talk at the Inaugural session. He mentioned that the water conservation would be the emphasis, with policies, & strategies, intended to oversee the natural resources of fresh water in a sustainable manner, protecting the hydrosphere, and meeting present and future human demand to avoid water scarcity. Prof. (Dr.) Neelofar Bhat, Principal GDC Eidgah & GCW Nawakadal Srinagar.
 
In her welcome address, appreciated the concern and enthusiastic participation shown by the various dignitaries, academicians and scholars. She also stressed the need for critical understanding of human development in interaction with environment. There was total 04 plenary and 01 participatory presentation sessions in the seminar. Besides documentary on mission Ehssas regarding the restoration of Khushal Sar Lake was screened by Er. Ab Rasheed EMRC University of Kashmir. 
 
The chief guest at the valedictory function was Commissioner / Secretary to the Government, Science Technology Department Shri Saurabh Bhagat (IAS). He has emphasized on the role of department in inculcating the scientific temper and providing the full financial support to researchers for greener technologies at various levels. The other dignitaries present were Dr. Nasir A Shah, Additional Director S&T, Bilal Ahmad Joint Director S&T. 
 
On the occasion, the HKM GDC Eidgah and JKST&IC also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on promotion of research and activities in areas of science, technology and innovations. The 1st three positions were felicitated by chief guest with certificates and trophies and were recommended to participate in Y20 event to be held at University of Kashmir in May 2023.
