Srinagar, July 04: The Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, visited Pantha Chowk Yatra Transit Camp, and conducted a thorough assessment of the security arrangements and traffic management for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Accompanied by ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, DIG CKR Sujit Kumar, SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal, and officers of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the DGP interacted with the yatris and reviewed the facilities provided at the camp.
During his visit, the DGP inspected the Joint Police Control Room and monitored the functioning of the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras. He received detailed briefings from the JKP and CAPFs camp officers regarding the security measures implemented at the camp. The officers also apprised the DGP about the arrangements in place to ensure smooth security and traffic movement both within and outside the camp.
Emphasizing the utmost importance of adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions for the security of yatris, the DGP urged the officers to enforce strict compliance. He urged them to regularly review the security measures, particularly at critical points within the camp, and take necessary actions as required.
The DGP directed the officers to provide timely briefings to the deployed personnel and ensure the safety and security of the camp. He also instructed them to strictly adhere to designated cut-off timings. Stressing the need for enhanced supervision, the DGP urged the officers to identify and rectify any loopholes in the security arrangements, strictly following the established SOPs.
Wishing the officers and personnel of all the forces the best, the DGP called for increased cooperation among them. With the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra approaching, the DGP’s visit to the Pantha Chowk Yatra Transit Camp highlights the authorities’ commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the yatris throughout their pilgrimage.
