Srinagar, June 20: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Budgam, SKUAST-K on Tuesday organised and awareness and community mobilization programme on the formation and promotion of dairy FPO at Drang, a remote tribal village of district Budgam,
The programme was conducted under NABARD funded project on the formation and promotion of Farmer Producer Organisation on dairy activity in the Khag block of the district. It was attended by Mr. Junaid Hakim (District Development Manager NABARD), Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone (Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Budgam), Dr. Mir Nadeem Hassan (Principal Investigator of the project on FPO), Dr. Bhinish Shakeel (Scientist Home Science), Dr Vaseem Yousuf (Scientist Plant Protection), Dr. Ambreen Nabi (Scientist Vegetable Science), Dr Sabia Akhter (Scientist Agronomy KVK Budgam), Mr. Khurshid Ahmad, Ms Iram Fraooq and progressive farmers of the area.
Dr Bilal Ahmad Lone highlighted the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Budgam in the dissemination of the latest agricultural technologies among the farmers. Mr. Junaid stressed the need for FPO on dairy activity in the area and the role of NABARD in improving the livelihood of farmers. Dr. Nadeem deliberated upon issues of marketing in milk in Kashmir valley and strategies for mitigating this challenge by the formation of FPO.
