Budgam, March 22: After the School Education Department started the enrollment drive, 125 dropout students have returned to schools in 13 educational zones of this central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
An official from the Chief Educational Office Budgam told Rising Kashmir that the enrollment drive had been started in every educational zone of the district. “Under this enrollment drive, 2,849 students across Budgam were admitted in government schools, out of which 125 dropout students have rejoined for further education, while 681 students got fresh admission,” he said.
The official said that during the drive, the highest number of students was enrolled in the Soibugh zone where 457 students got admission to seven government schools. In the Khansahib zone, 422 students were admitted to three government schools, while in the other 11 educational zones, 1,950 students were enrolled, he said.
“The teachers visited the doorsteps of the people to get their wards enrolled in government-run schools while assuring them that quality education will be provided to their children by qualified teachers, an official said.
He said the headmaster and zonal educational officers are continuously conducting enrollment drives in their jurisdictions this year in all 13 educational zones across the district.
“The teachers during the drive launched a door-to-door campaign across the district. They are also counseling the parents who are not sending their children to school; these parents are also made aware of the importance of education for the children,” the official said.
