Baramulla, Jun 08: A devastating fire engulfed a residential house in the Baba Raza colony area of Sopore town, north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, resulting in the complete destruction of the property.
Additionally, two fire-fighters sustained injuries while battling the fierce blaze.
Mohammad Akbar, an official of the Fire and Emergency Services department in Sopore told Rising Kashmir that the fire originated in the Baba Raza locality on Thursday morning, engulfing the residential house of Bashir Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Qadir Mir.
“Tragically, the house was rendered completely damaged due to the intense flames. During the firefighting operation, two brave firefighters also suffered injuries,” Akbar said.
The injured firefighters, identified as Noor Mohammad Dar (badge number 1271) and Ali Mohammad Reshi (badge number 1452), are associated with the F&S station in Sopore.
The official said that Noor Mohammad is a leading fire-fighter at the station, exemplifying his dedication and expertise in fire-fighting.
“Prompt medical attention was provided to the injured firefighters, who have been swiftly transferred to SDH Sopore for treatment,” he added.
Preliminary investigations into the incident have revealed that the fire was caused by a leakage of LPG gas.
“Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the gas leakage and subsequent ignition are under investigation,” he added.
