Srinagar, July 18: The three-day AmritYuvaKalotsav, organized by SangeetNatakAkademi, New Delhi, and J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, was inaugurated today at Tagore Hall, Srinagar by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The festival, which showcases music, dance, and drama, is being held to commemorate India’s 75 years of Independence.
In his address, the Lt Governor praised the efforts of SangeetNatakAkademi and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for providing a platform to young artists from across the country to display their talents. He emphasized that these artists have the opportunity to touch the hearts of millions through their performances.
The Lt Governor stated, “Music, dance, and theater are not just art forms; they hold the key to unlocking the vast existence and tremendous possibilities of life.” He expressed his belief that artists are the true treasures and pride of the nation, and their wealth cannot be measured in material terms. Through different art forms, one can catch a glimpse of existence and realize the mystic path of life, he added.
The Lt Governor also acknowledged the immense contribution of artists in uniting various sects, customs, religions, cultures, languages, and social systems, spreading the fragrance of unity across the world. He noted the remarkable continuity of Indian culture, which has not only flourished but also grown stronger despite challenges and attacks.
During the inaugural event, the Lt Governor highlighted the constant efforts being made to pass on India’s rich cultural legacy to the younger generation. He credited Prime Minister NarendraModiJi for inspiring the AmritYuvaKalotsav, which reflects society’s aspirations and motivates the youth to contribute to the nation’s progress.
The Lt Governor emphasized the strength of Indian culture, which lies in its unity in diversity. He mentioned the mission of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiated by the Prime Minister to strengthen diversity and bring states, cultures, languages, artists, and youth closer to each other. He expressed pride in witnessing different states coming together, with geographical distances disappearing, and people taking an interest in each other’s food habits, culture, language, and lifestyle, creating a stronger and vibrant India.
In his address, the Lt Governor emphasized the importance of striking a balance between science and music for the society to flourish and progress. He noted that art plays a vital role in the birth of both the mind and consciousness of society, and no matter how advanced a society becomes, it remains incomplete without art.
The Lt Governor praised the pure sensibility of artists, likening it to that of a small child. He highlighted the generosity, tolerance, philanthropy, austerity, sacrifice, and spiritual practice displayed by artists during events like AmritYuvaKalotsav, asserting that their contributions contribute to the rapid progress of the nation, unstoppable by any force.
Dr.SandhyaPurecha, Chairperson of SangeetNatakAkademi, shared the organization’s efforts to promote the art and culture of Jammu and Kashmir. She announced that the Akademi would conduct workshops on Bhand-Pather across the country. The event was attended by Sujit Singh, DIG; Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages; Raju Das, Secretary of SangeetNatakAkademi; renowned artists, prominent citizens, and youth.
