Jammu May 16: The Department of Youth Services and Sports organised matches in half a dozen sports at Khel Gaon here. Director Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K Subash C Chhibber after declaring the mega sports extravaganza open expressed gratitude to the field staff of the Department for engaging youth of different age groups in various sports activities.
He assured that every possible help would be rendered to the desirous youth of the UT who are interested in adopting sports as a career or a hobby. “Sports is proving the best anti-dote to curb drug addiction and the efforts of engaging young blood in games and sports by YS&S are yielding us great results” he added.
Dozens of matches of Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Volleyball, Tug of war, Chess & Carrom for U/14 & U/ 17 years boys of inter Zonal District level were played very enthusiastically by the budding sports persons.
About 1450 students/players took part on the first Day of the tourney from all the 14 Zones of District Jammu. JD YSS Jammu Suram Chand Sharma and DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma were also present on this occasion for the encouragement of young players.
