Srinagar, Apr 06: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two cross border narco smugglers in Rajbagh area of Srinagar.
Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir Zone ,Vijay Kumar, said two cross-border narco smugglers namely
Sajjad Ahmed Badana S/o Aijaz Ahmed Badana R/o Nachyan and Zaheer Ahmed Tanch S/o AlamdinTanch R/o AmroyiKarnah Kupwara were arrested by Srinagar Police.
“11.089 Kgs of Heroin (worth Rs 70 crore in international market) & 11,82,500 in cash seized. FIR in NDPS Act at Rajbagh PS”, he said, adding that these drugs had come from Pakistan.
A police officer at Srinagar Police told Rising Kashmir that based on specific information of Srinagar Police, a Narcotic substance i.e Heroin weighing 11.089 kg (worth approximately 70 crore in international market) was recovered.
He said proceeds of drugs in cash amounting to rupees 11, 82,500 was also recovered from them.
“Both the arrested accused were residing in a rented accommodation owned by one Ghulam Mohd Dar R/O kursooRajbagh.FIR no 17/2023 has been registered under sections 8,21,29 of NDPS act in Rajbagh PS,” the police official said.
“During the initial questioning of the accused it was revealed that the consignment of these drugs had come from Pakistan.Investigation of the case is in full swing, ” he said.
The police official said all angles related to the case are being investigated and there is possibility of more arrests in the case.
