Srinagar, July 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Vikar Rasool Wani on Thursday expressed serious concern over the “failure” of the administration to reach out to Shia areas to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of Muharram. He said the “failure” of the Lieutenant Governor to call Muharram related meeting this year was “disappointing and anguishing”.
JKPCC Chief in a statement hit out at the administration for “failing” to reach out to Shia areas to review the Muharram arrangements and other facilities required to be made for the people, saying this has led to the disappointment and anguish among the Shia community.
“LG J&K has also failed to call a Muharram-related meeting, this year, which is very unfortunate,” Wani said, adding that “Congress Party condemns government’s inaction and inability to hold a meeting on Muharram and strongly demands that administration must be geared up for making all arrangements for the people during the auspicious period of Muharram.”
He urged the LG to direct the administration to reach out to Shia areas and review the Muharram arrangement, without any further delay.
