Shopian, Aug 04: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shopian on Friday organized a one-day training cum exposure visit of farmers of the district under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) to Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH) Rangreth, Srinagar.
A group of more than 30 Progressive farmers of the district was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb in the presence of Chief Agriculture Officer, Shopian, Farooq Ahmad Reshi; DIO Showkat Hussain Ganie and other officers and officials of the department.
At CITH Rangreth, the farmers will be provided day-long training on various aspects of the horticulture sector, including pre and post-harvest management strategies. The farmers shall also be imparted training /awareness regarding the latest models of protected vegetable cultivation and various ongoing agricultural activities by the scientists of the institute.
On the occasion, the DC also distributed pulse seed kits among the farmers and stressed upon them to avail this good opportunity of learning and using the same knowledge and good practices in their fields, as recommended by the experts. The farmers were accompanied by District Officer, Mahinder Paul; Junior Agriculture Extension Officer and Agriculture Extension Assistant.
