Srinagar, June 12: The Education in Science and Mathematics (ESM) Wing of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) is all set to organize zonal-level competitions for model exhibitions cum seminars under Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani (RBVP).
In line with the National Education Policy 2020, the advisory committee responsible for guiding the science exhibition had in 2022 rechristened the National Science Exhibition as Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani (RBVP).
By fostering curiosity, innovation, and excellence, RBVP strives to inspire young minds and contribute to the development of a vibrant scientific community in India. It aims to promote scientific temperament among students by providing a platform for them to showcase their innovative projects and ideas.
RBVP seeks to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, encourage collaboration, nurture future scientists, and create awareness about scientific advancements.
In line with the goals of the RBVP, the SCERT has directed all the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) in the Kashmir Division to ensure maximum student participation in these events.
The theme chosen for the science innovation models is “Technology and Toys,” which comprises seven different sub-themes. This theme aims to foster creativity and problem-solving skills among students while exploring the interplay between technology and toys.
In addition to the model exhibitions, a seminar will be conducted on the topic “Scientific Innovations for A Sustainable Future.” This seminar aims to create awareness about the importance of scientific advancements and their role in building a sustainable future for society.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) issued a notification in October of last year, disseminating the guidelines and instructions for the competitions to all the DIETs well in advance. This ensured that the schools had ample time to prepare and participate in the event.
The competition is open to all schools, including government, private, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and others. Students from grades 9 to 12 are eligible to participate, providing an opportunity for young innovators across different educational backgrounds to showcase their talents.
The competition will progress through various levels, including zonal/cluster, district, and provincial, where students will compete against each other. From the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, a total of 21 models will be selected to represent the region in the national-level competition.
Recognizing the potential impact of these innovative ideas, the selected models will be transferred to the industry for further development. Moreover, the inventors will be provided with patent protection to secure their intellectual property rights.
The zonal-level competitions organized by SCERT’s Education in Science and Mathematics Wing are expected to fuel scientific curiosity among students and pave the way for a more innovative and sustainable future.
Through these initiatives, SCERT aims to inspire and nurture the budding scientists and inventors of tomorrow.
