Srinagar, Oct 04: The Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD) in collaboration with the Motor Vehicles Department of Jammu and Kashmir (MVD) kicks off a three-day training program on Wednesday in Srinagar. This program, sponsored by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), focuses on the crucial “Role of CMVA & CMVR in Road Safety and Enforcement.”
With the aim of bridging knowledge gaps related to recent technological interventions and amendments in CMVA (Central Motor Vehicles Act) and CMVR (Central Motor Vehicles Rules), MORTH has entrusted AITD to conduct these informative sessions nationwide. The primary objective is to educate and inform officials associated with transport and traffic departments across the country about these vital updates pertaining to road safety.
A substantial turnout of traffic and transport officers and officials is expected to participate in the training workshop. This initiative promises to pave the way for an advanced and safer future for transportation on the roads of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the inauguration, RTO Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, emphasized the importance of a continuous action plan. He stressed that a dedicated team of officers on the ground plays a pivotal role in controlling violations and raising awareness among road users, thereby contributing to a responsible and law-abiding society.
Anil Chhikara, Former Deputy Commissioner of Transport in Delhi, imparted valuable insights to all participants on how to tackle upcoming challenges in traffic regulations and enforcement through advanced technologies and online services. His expertise is expected to empower the attendees with innovative solutions to enhance road safety.
Assistant Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, Mubashir Jan, highlighted the significance of data-based research in transforming the transport sector and sensitizing the entire system. He emphasized the need for evidence-based policies and actions to improve road safety.
ARTO Srinagar, Dr. Syed Farhana Asgar, affirmed their commitment to fostering a capable team of officers actively patrolling the roads to control violations and educate road users on their role as obedient and responsible citizens of society.
Sandeep Kumar, coordinator of the workshop, informed that these kinds of programs will be conducted in Jammu and Kashmir on a regular basis. With the collaborative efforts of AITD, MVD, and MORTH, this training program is poised to be a significant step toward a safer and more responsible transportation system in Jammu and Kashmir, ultimately benefiting the entire nation.
