Jammu, Aug 21: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Monday slammed the BJP-led Central government, saying its “hollow policies” have resulted in increasing the sufferings of the people. He criticized the BJP for “hoodwinking public opinion” by raking up residuary and emotive issues to divert the attention from its “failures on all fronts”.
Bhalla while leading another protest in Ward-5 Khatika Tallab said, “BJP has nothing to offer to the people and therefore it has been shying away from focusing on the core issues.” He reminded the BJP of the massive 2014 Jammu mandate for development and welfare and said, “Instead of doing a little bit in this regard they pushed the entire region to the wall”.
“The developmental machinery came to a grinding halt and the utility services suffered a major jolt due to the self-centered approach of the BJP leaders. BJP has not understood the idea of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding, “The upcoming polls will send a terse message to the BJP for pursuing the politics of deceit and hate that has caused enormous damage to the secular fabric of this land of sufis and saints.”
The JKPCC leader anticipated a “big win” for the Congress candidates and termed the ruling BJP in Jammu and Kashmir a “zero performance government”. He said the selection lists issued during the BJP rule are “totally biased as only 10 percent jobs have been provided to Jammu youth”.
“BJP has become a mute spectator on discrimination. The general public including traders, businessmen, farmers, unemployed, families of the martyrs, border residents besides daily wagers, casual workers, contractual lecturers, etc had been bearing the brunt of the discrimination in all spheres. J&K is going through turbulent times under this government,” Bhall said.
Bhalla alleged that the Modi government failed to tackle unemployment in the nine years of its governance at the Centre. “Today, unemployment being at its peak across the country reveals the incompetence and utter failure of the BJP government at the Centre despite having promised to provide an unprecedented number of jobs to the youth. There are no result-oriented policies tailored for the youth as a result of which the future of the youth has been plunged into darkness,” he said.
Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney alleged that the present BJP government is “directionless” due to the absence of any public welfare in their respective agenda. “This government has only given rise to a situation of uncertainty, chaos and confusion,” he said.
Corporator Ritu Choudhary said the BJP must conduct a fair introspection of its government’s functioning and draw an “unbiased conclusion”. “The people have now understood the BJP’s game plan and they are waiting to teach it a lesson in the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary elections,” she said.
