Baramulla, Oct 19: Around 12 people have fallen ill after consuming Wazwan in the Singhpora area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A local resident of Singapora area told Rising Kashmir that after consuming Wazwan, dozens of people fell ill, complaining of dysentery and vomiting.
All the ill residents were taken to Baramulla hospital for immediate medical attention.
Medical Superintendent AHGMC Baramulla Dr. Parvez Masoodi said that in an unfortunate incident this afternoon, the Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla received 12 cases of food poisoning, all stemming from the consumption of Wazan in the Singapora area of Baramulla.
“The patients were promptly admitted to the emergency and casualty department for immediate medical attention,” he said.
He mentioned that the medical staff at the hospital swiftly initiated proper treatment protocols and conducted necessary investigations to address the situation.
“All affected individuals are reported to be in stable condition, with ongoing monitoring of their health,” Dr. Parvaiz said.
He stated that no referrals to other medical facilities were necessary given the current stable condition of the patients.
“In discussions with Senior Resident Medicine, it has been decided that some of the patients will be discharged soon, reflecting positive progress in their recovery,” he added.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation to check the source of the food poisoning to prevent further incidents.
