Baramulla, Oct 20: Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked three notorious drug smugglers under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.
According to the police, these three individuals, who were among the most wanted, have been lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
The identified drug smugglers are Musadiq Afzal Masoodi, alias Vicky, son of Mohd Afzal of Pampore Pulwama, Mohd Shafi Hajam, son of Nazir Ahmad of Wanigam Bala, and Ghulam Hassan Ganie, son of Ghulam Rasool of Trikanjan Boniyar.
A police official said that the trio has been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act following the acquisition of formal detention orders from the competent authority.
“These drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu,” stated the police official.
He added that these individuals, with several cases registered against them, were involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth in areas such as Baramulla, Uri, Pattan Boniyar, and other parts of District Baramulla.
“Despite their involvement in multiple FIRs, they persisted in their activities and continued promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth,” he further emphasized.
