Pulwama, Feb 06: Amidst the picturesque surroundings of Bagh Sangerwani village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) continued its tradition of organizing snow games, drawing enthusiastic participation from local youth.
Bagh Sangerwani, nestled in the serene upper reaches of Pulwama, adorned by Pir Panjal mountains and diverse coniferous trees, has been designated as a tourist destination, owing to its pristine beauty.
The snow carnival, eagerly awaited by the youth of Sangerwani, featured a range of activities including snow cricket, snow run, and tug of war, transforming the snow-clad landscape into a vibrant playground.
Aijaz Ahmad, a resident of Bagh Sangerwani, expressed gratitude towards the administration for providing a platform for the youth to exhibit their talents and ward off winter-induced lethargy. The event marked the second consecutive year of snow games organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in the village.
Jadish Raj, the District Officer of Youth Services and Sports in Pulwama, emphasized the importance of engaging youth in physical activities to promote fitness and deter negative influences. With over 200 players participating in the event at Sangerwani, Raj reiterated the commitment to sustaining such initiatives in the future.
Parallel events were also held at Lurgam Tral and Pampore, attracting around 180 youth to participate in various snow games.
