Kulgam, Jan 08: Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan, a 2016 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, officially took charge as the Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate of Kulgam on Monday.
He previously served as the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and led the Srinagar Smart City Project. Khan is regarded as a transformative figure who significantly impacted the landscape of Srinagar.
The transition to his new role has been met with a positive reception from the people of Kulgam, who are optimistic about Amir’s ability to advance the district’s development initiatives. His experience in SMC, particularly in town planning, is seen as a valuable asset that could significantly benefit Kulgam’s growth.
“Working in Srinagar for almost three years as Commissioner SMC and CEO of Srinagar Smart City was a lifetime opportunity,” Athar said. “I have lived my dream in these three years. I am immensely grateful for this opportunity. As I move on to my next assignment as DC/DM Kulgam, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone in Srinagar for all the support, love and affection.”
On assuming charge as DC Kulgam, Athar Aamir said he will carry forward the pace of development in the district and his priority would be prompt service delivery and holistic development of the district.
