Farooq Nazki laid to rest, Fateh Khwani to be observed on Feb 10 at Rainawari

Srinagar, Feb 07: Noted poet, writer and former Director Door Darshan Muhmmad Farooq Nazki, who passed away on February 06 , was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Rainwari Srinagar.
Hundreds of people from different walks of life attended his Nimaz-e-Janaza held at Ziyarat Sayed Sahib Sonwar.
The Congregational Fateh Khawani of Muhmmad Farooq Nazki , would be held on Friday at 11 am in Rainwari at ancestral grave yard followed by a condolence meet to be held at his residence in Shivpora Srinagar, his family members informed.
Known for his thought-provoking and deep postmodern writings in both Urdu and Kashmiri, Nazki was a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award.
“The Congregational Fateh Khwani prayers would be performed on Saturday 10th February (11:00 am) at his ancestral graveyard in Malkah Rainwari, followed by a condolence meet to be held at Shivpora Srinagar,” said Ayaz Nazki.
Nazki’s demise has been mourned by a cross-section of the civil society, with people in literary circles terming it a void difficult to fill.
To mourn the sad demise of Muhmmad Farooq Literary Forum Bandipora a condolence meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon to pay the tributes to the legendary soul. Participants prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul and endurance to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
“His creative brilliance found expression in various genres of literature. His works reflect cultural and existential vicissitudes of Kashmir. He will continue to influence young bards and writers. Deep condolences, said Mir Tariq Rasool VP Literary Forum Bandipora
Meanwhile, a brief condolence meeting was also held at Office of the Adbi Markaz Kamraz J&K under the Chairmanship of President Mohammad Amin Bhat.
“He will be remembered for his pre-eminent contribution as a poet and as a critic enriching Kashmiri language and literature in a profound manner. With his memorable and postmodern poetry, he has left an indelible mark on the hearts of people. Today the literary world of Kashmir has suffered a great loss,” said Mohammad Amin Bhat.
