Srinagar, Sep 25: Following a recent survey undertaken by the Jammu and Kashmir government Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) to determine the requirements of Ladies Bus service in the city, officials said that they have rescheduled the timings of the special coaches from Monday.
General Manager Operations Kashmir Habibullah Reshi told Rising Kashmir that they have decided to reschedule the timings of all five Ladies Special coaches in the city as per the female commuter flow and to find out if there is any more requirement for adding more ladies special bus coaches.
“As we did a survey and review in the city regarding the Ladies Special Bus Service, it was decided to reschedule the timings of the special bus services as per the female commuters flow, following which we will also see if there is any further requirement to add more buses,” he said.
He said that as of now they already have five Ladies Special Buses operational in the city and have also reviewed the route plan of the vehicles specially in the downtown city and accordingly they have decided to reschedule the movement timing of the buses specially in accordance with the college and office timings for the day.
Pertinent to mention that the female commuters in the city have been demanding more Ladies Special Bus Service on more routes in Srinagar specially in the areas where educational institutions and other government or private offices are located.
JKRTC ‘Ladies Special Bus’ Service has a thirty-two-seat bus capacity on each bus and earlier the Service was operational from Lal Chowk to four routes which were Soura which used to make four singles in a day, two specials to Kashmir University which also used to make four singles and to downtown area passing through Nalla Amir Khan Road and used to make two singles in a day.
