Shopian, Oct 09: The Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in Shopian, a branch of J&K Bank, has introduced an on-site training programme tailored for 30 specially-abled persons in Zainapora area of the district.
This pioneering initiative, funded by NABARD under its Skill Development Scheme, aims to provide these candidates with valuable skills, fostering their journey toward self-employment and financial independence.
The inauguration of the training programme was led by Rouf Zargar, District Development Manager (DDM) of NABARD, in the presence of LDM Farooq Ahmad and Director RSETI, Nazir Ahmad. Notable representatives from the Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) and the Social Welfare departments were also present.
According to Rouf Zargar, DDM NABARD, this initiative embodies NABARD’s unwavering commitment to supporting Skill Development Programmes in the Union Territory.
“NABARD is extending financial support to professional skill agencies to conduct courses that equip youth with marketable skills. In this particular program, 30 participants, including female candidates, will undergo training in tailoring, a vital step toward empowering them to explore self-employment opportunities,” he said.
Zargar said the training will be comprehensive, blending theoretical instruction with practical, hands-on sessions facilitated by expert trainers from RSETI.
Expressing gratitude to NABARD, Director RSETI, Farooq Ahmad, commended the sanctioning of the programme. He encouraged the candidates to absorb the knowledge gained during the training, highlighting the institute’s unwavering commitment to providing continuous support throughout the course.
“We assure the participants of ongoing support, empowering them to harness their skills for future employment opportunities,” said LDM Farooq Ahmad. He stressed the importance of candidates showcasing their abilities to the world, proving that their disabilities should never hinder their pursuit of livelihoods.
