Srinagar, Jan 9: In response to the alarming increase in fire incidents in Kupwara district, Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan has issued an advisory to mitigate the damage caused to property and protect the lives of residents.

Safe Usage of Cooking Gas Appliances, A vital directive advises residents to switch off cooking gas appliances when not in use, minimizing the risk of gas leakage-related incidents.
Electric Line Safety, the advisory emphasizes the need to maintain electric lines, including transformers, and conduct regular check-ups to prevent electrical mishaps.
Clearing Leaves and Grass Near Residences: To reduce the risk of fires, residents are advised to keep leaves and grass away from residential quarters and business establishments.
Prudent Use of Heating Appliances, Residents using electric appliances for heating purposes are instructed to switch them off during the night, promoting safe usage and preventing potential fire hazards.
Fire Audit for Business Establishments, a critical measure includes conducting fire audits for markets, shopping malls, and other business establishments to ensure compliance with safety standards and reduce the likelihood of fire incidents.
