Anantnag, Dec 26: Commissioner of State Taxes, Dr Rashmi Singh, issued an order through which flying squads were constituted throughout J&K for checking GST evasions.
The first drive in this regard was conducted in District Anantnag today in light of certain inputs from field of formations and was a joint effort put in by the field formations and the flying squad led by Assistant Commissioner Er. Sarib Sahran and his inspectors and staff.
The joint inspection was also carried out in areas where certain unregistered traders were reported wherein SDM Bijbehara, Tanvir Ahmad Tanvir also took lead in the drive along with state tax officers Mr Hamid Ganaie and Amir Nath.
He also made the traders aware of the importance of getting registered under GST and the numerous benefits they get from it. This effort was therefore augmented by the revenue department of J&K as well. Around 3 dozen dealers covering various sectors like medicine, furnishing, textiles, hardware, brass, footwear, SSI units etc in district Anantnag were inspected during the drive along with jurisdictional officers. The squad also took guidance from DC Enforcement South, Shahnanwaz Shah.
During the drive onspot violations with penal outcomes of over Rs.10 Lakhs were detected and STOs concerned shall be issuing requisite documents for the same. The drive focused on unregistered dealers and also on registered dealers violating GST Act and rules. Data like QR codes, bank accounts, electricity bills, estimated turnover, invoice malpractices etc were recorded and provided to jurisdictional officers for stern action. The areas of Bijbehara, Anantnag, Qazigund were covered in this drive.
Later on the flying squad visited certain random unregistered traders and also certain registered persons in the Bijbehara town as well as Anantnag area and thereafter went to the Qazigund area to check on unregistered persons as well as certain inputs of irregularities were checked by the concerned jurisdiction officers. The efforts of the jurisdiction officers were monitored and they were found to be professional by the flying squad.
The team thereafter returned to Srinagar and the efforts of the team were properly documented and submitted to the Commissionerate for further action as warranted under law. It is well known that in the past few weeks, under the direction of Senior Officers, the Department has enhanced its enforcement activities and unique formation of flying squads was done in line with these sustained efforts.
In this endeavour, today exercise was carried out in District Anantnag and these exercises shall continue whenever specific inputs are received, the flying squads would immediately reach the spot and aid the actions of the jurisdiction authorities over the specific inputs.
The taxpayers are therefore advised to follow all the norms, rules and regulations of GST so as to lend a hand to the nation’s economy and growth.
