Srinagar, Dec 26: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smart City, Athar Amir Khan, said on Tuesday that the “Balidaan Stambh” at Partap Park in Srinagar is set to be completed within the next three months.
Speaking to reporters, Khan emphasized that the martyr’s memorial will bear the names of individuals who made supreme sacrifices for the nation.
The project is progressing swiftly, and there is optimism that it will be finalized in the specified timeframe.
The foundation stone for the Balidaan Stambh was laid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on June 24, 2023, during his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The current status of the project indicates substantial ongoing work, with expectations to conclude within the next two months, as per Khan.
Part of the larger Srinagar Smart City initiative, the Balidaan Stambh project serves as a tribute to the martyrs who made significant sacrifices for the country.
According to the commissioner, several other projects are concurrently underway in various locations across Srinagar. Notably, a footbridge at Amira Kadal is in progress, designed exclusively for pedestrians. Additionally, work on a bustling market is nearing completion. The sewerage, drainage, and electricity infrastructure on the backside of Gonikhan market are almost finished, promising the development of a substantial pedestrian market akin to the Polview market.
Further, the commissioner highlighted the ongoing work on the historic Hari Singh High Street, expressing confidence in its timely completion. Notably, the footbridge connecting Lal Chowk with Goni Khan and other markets on this side is slated to be finalized by April next year, facilitating improved connectivity and accessibility for the public.
