Kargil, Dec 26: In a move to safeguard cultural heritage and promote community growth, the Kargil Development Authority’s CEO, Abdul Gaffar Zargar, announced a significant initiative for the restoration of the revered shrine of Islamic preacher Akhone Muhammad Shareef in Styangkung Village, Ladakh. The shrine is set to be included in the Sustainable Development Program (SDP), recognizing its status as a heritage site.
During his recent visit to the shrine, Zargar pledged comprehensive efforts to restore it to its original state based on historical records. Historian Mohd Sadiq Hardassi highlighted the impactful contributions of Akhone Muhammad Shareef and his descendants to Purig’s history, emphasizing their influence on the cultural, religious, and social aspects of the region.
Zargar emphasized that the development of Styangkung Village underlines a commitment to sustainable progress, encompassing improvements in livelihoods, infrastructure, and overall well-being for the local residents. This holistic approach aligns with the broader goal of fostering sustainable community growth.
