Srinagar, Oct 10: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday impressed upon the divisional administration to ensure all facilities to devotees on the annual Urs Observance of the patron saint of Jammu and Kashmir, Hazrat Sheikh Ul Alam Sheikh Nur Ud Din Noorani, also known as Nund Reshi (RA).
In a statement, the NC’s senior leader and former finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather said the revered shrine is the epicentre of faith for lakhs of people. During the Urs days, the number of devotees visiting the holy shrine increases exponentially, making it imperative for the divisional and concerned district administration to step in to ensure that the devotees don’t have to face any hardships at the shrine.
He impressed upon the concerned PDD, and PWD departments to ensure round-the-clock availability of water and electricity to the shrine. He also asked the concerned authorities to ensure swift traffic movement on all routes leading to the revered shrine at Char-e-Sharief. The administration, Rather said, is duty bound to ensure hassle-free Urs observance by providing round-the-clock transport facilities, drinking water and electricity supply at the revered Shrine.
JKPDP General Secretary and former minister Gh Nabi Lone (Hanjura) has called upon the LG administration to ensure comprehensive facilities for the Urs Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) in Charar-i-Sharief.
Hanjura emphasized the necessity of providing essential amenities to devotees from all sections of society across the state who visit Charar-i-Sharief to pay their respects at the revered shrine of Sheikh Noor udin Wali. He specifically highlighted the importance of adequate transport, consistent power supply, clean drinking water, and availability of essential supplies like ration during this significant occasion.
The PDP leader urged the authorities to maintain proper health and sanitation facilities in Charar-i-Sharief throughout these days, ensuring the comfort and convenience of the devotees.
