The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that holiday of Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi ( SAW) will be observed on Thursday instead of Wednesday.

As per the GAD order that reads in partial modification of Government Order No. 1596-JK(GAD) of  2022 dated: JO.1.2022 read with Government Order No. 1597-JK(GAD) Of  2022 dated 30.12.2022, it is hereby ordered that the holiday on account of “Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi” shall be observed in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir on 28.09.2023 (Thursday) instead of 27.09.2023 (Wednesday).

Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) would be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday amid religious fervour. The day marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The day is celebrated with zeal and fervour by Muslims across the world. The day is celebrated on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

The month of Rabi-ul-Awwal is of immense significance for Muslims due to a series of notable events that occurred during this month. Special functions would be held across J&K at various shrines and Masjids.

The biggest congregation would be held at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar where devotees in large numbers would offer special prayers and have a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
