Srinagar, Oct 11: The Assistant Labour Commissioner of Srinagar has issued a significant order, asking Khyber Industries Limited to provide compensation of more than Rs 10 lakh to the family of a Nepali worker who lost his life in a factory accident.
The incident occurred in August, when Amar Bahadur, an employee in the Crusher Division of Khyber Industries, sustained severe injuries during his work, leading to his untimely demise. The court’s ruling firmly establishes that Amar Bahadur Thapa of Nepal met his end while on duty, making his dependents eligible for compensation.
The court’s directive, backed by a detailed order, has calculated the compensation at a total of Rs 10,09,232, factoring in the age of the deceased worker and other relevant considerations. The Chief Manager of Khyber Industries Private Limited has been given a strict deadline of 15 days to disburse the compensation to the grieving family.
This order serves as a reminder of the critical importance of ensuring the safety and welfare of workers, regardless of their nationality, underlining the legal responsibilities of employers in such unfortunate circumstances.
