Bandipora, Dec 14: In a bid to promote environmental awareness towards nature conservation, the Wular Conservation and Management Authority has announced plans to establish nature libraries in schools located near Wular Lake in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
These libraries will feature a wide range of books that explore various themes relating to nature conservation, including birds, plants, wildlife, and environmental preservation.
Mudasir Mehmood Malik, Coordinator of the Wular Conservation and Management Authority(WUCMA) told Rising Kashmir that the main objective of these nature libraries is to instill a deep-rooted appreciation for the environment among the younger generation.
By engaging students early on and encouraging them to become proactive stewards of nature, the WUCMA hopes to create a lasting impact in how stakeholders approach the protection and management of Wular Lake and its surrounding ecosystem, he said.
Mudasir said that children are one of the most important assets in their journey towards preserving the natural beauty of our surroundings.
“By providing them with the knowledge and resources through these nature libraries, we aim to cultivate a generation that cherishes and safeguards our natural assets”, he added.
Mudasir further said that the establishment of these nature libraries will mark a progressive step in raising awareness about the significance of Wular Lake and will nurture an environmentally conscious mindset among students.
By acquainting them with a wealth of information, these libraries will contribute to the long-term conservation efforts surrounding Wular Lake and will secure its ecological integrity for generations to come, he added.
