Jammu, Mar 10: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of imposing a monolithic and illiberal socio-political order on the people with the ideological backing of vested agenda.
“The policies of government at the Centre proved to be disastrous, and the Constitution was itself under attack,” he said while addressing people at Raipur Satwari. He alleged, “The BJP government has created such an atmosphere in J&K that people are not able to live peacefully and comfortably. No one is supposed to question the government about its policies and if they do question, they are labelled as anti-national.”
Bhalla added, “The primary objective of the alliance is to fight together and defeat BJP to save the country, democracy, constitution, federalism, secularism. These are all constitutional values which are being debased by the BJP government.”
Accusing the BJP of “limited vision”, Bhalla warned that if the saffron party comes back to power, the country will be pushed towards “dictatorship” and its people would be deprived of all democratic rights.
“PM Modi has forgotten the contributions of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who created not only history but also geography when she severed Pakistan into two and created Bangladesh. The contributions of Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi cannot be ignored. PM must exercise restraint when he is talking about them,” he said
The JKPCC leader criticised the BJP, saying, “Politics and religion should not be mixed. Some parties and leaders are trying to mix them these days. Different people in one community can like different parties. Individuals in one household can have different preferences. We should not tend to club them together. Such ideas are regressive and weaken our Democracy and Constitution. My advice to BJP leaders is to not play one community against another for the greed of votes.”He stated, “But now the type of governance in this state has changed. The BJP Government failed to provide good governance, which they had promised. People have been left disappointed.”
