Srinagar, Feb 24: The 13th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Saturday organised a drug abuse awareness program in collaboration with the Socio-Economic Empowerment of Kashmir Society (SEEKS) NGO in Wayil, Ganderbal, to “promote community welfare”. The event also included a Medical and Veterinary Civic Action program at Government Boys Middle School, Bakura in the Ganderbal district.
The program witnessed active participation from the local community, emphasising the commitment of the 13th Bn SSB Dignibal to address critical social issues, the SSB said in a press release.
SEEKS, an NGO specialising in raising awareness about drug abuse, also commended the SSB’s dedication to community service. The NGO team presented skits, dramas, and songs on the ill effects of drug abuse, which were appreciated by the local youths of Bakura and nearby villages.
Under the Medical and Veterinary Civic Action program, the residents of Bakura village were provided free medical services and veterinary care for their livestock under the supervision of Dr Gourav Misra, Commandant/Med and other doctors. The locals praised the collective efforts by different agencies toward a healthier and safer society.
Mukesh Singh Yadav, Commandant of the 13th Bn SSB Dignibal, emphasized in his inaugural address the need for a sustained drive to overcome the menace of drug abuse and its far-reaching ill effects on future generations. He expressed gratitude to the residents of Bakura village for their active involvement and support in making the initiative a success.
