Srinagar, Aug 20: Kashmir is celebrating a proud moment as Kabra Altaf has achieved the prestigious Ni Dan (Second-Degree Black Belt) in Judo, marking a remarkable milestone in her sporting journey.A statement issued here said that Kabra has already etched her name in history as the first SAI-accredited female Judo coach from Kashmir and the first female gold medallist in Judo from the Valley. With numerous national medals to her credit, participation as an India camper, and training at some of the country’s most reputed institutes, she stands tall as one of the most accomplished judokas of the region. Her achievements have been widely recognised, including the State Award in Judo—an honour she was the first from Kashmir’s Judo fraternity to receive. Currently, she is pursuing a Level Coaching Certification from the International Judo Federation (IJF), further consolidating her role as both a global-standard athlete and coach. She earned her latest distinction after successfully clearing the Ni Dan examinations held in New Delhi, organised by the Judo Federation of India. This landmark accomplishment not only adds another feather to her illustrious career but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring athletes, particularly young women, to dream big and pursue excellence in martial arts.
