Srinagar, Sep 15: In a significant move to clampdown on terrorists and operating terror networks , The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with security forces on Friday arrested two terrorist associates linked with proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba in Baramulla. The police officials said that arms, ammunition and other incriminating materials were seized from their possession.
A police spokesman said a joint team of Baramulla Police & Army (8RR) at a checkpoint established at Paranpeelan Bridge Uri tactfully apprehended two suspected persons who were coming from Dachi towards Paranpeelan Bridge and tried to flee while noticing naka party.
“They have been identified as Zaid Hassan Malla son of Ghulam Hassan Malla resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla & Mohd Arif Channa son of Nazir Ahmad Channa resident of Stadium Colony Baramulla,” he said.
The spokesman said during their frisking two Glock Pistols, two Pistol Magazines, two Pistol Silencers, five Chinese Grenades & 28 live Pistol rounds were recovered from their possession.
It is pertinent to mention here that they were involved in cross border smuggling of arms & ammunition at the behest of Pakistan based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT terrorists for carrying out terror activities.
Meanwhile, a case under Indian Arms Act & UA (P) Act was registered in Police Station Uri and further investigation has been initiated.
