Udhampur, Aug 13: A monumental National Flagpole, measuring 62 feet, was installed at Ward No. 6, Slathia Chowk, Udhampur by the Slathia community on Wednesday.A statement issued here said that the flagpole was jointly dedicated to the nation and inaugurated today by DIG Udhampur–Reasi Range Sarah Rizvi and Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai. The ceremony was attended by Additional SP Sandeep Bhat, former Councillor Vikram Singh Slathia, representatives of the Beopar Mandal, Chamber of Commerce, prominent citizens, civil society members and the general public of Udhampur town. On the occasion, the DIG and DC hoisted the National Flag and appreciated the efforts of the Slathia community for this patriotic initiative, congratulating the people of Udhampur district. The DC informed that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, launched by the Government, aims to encourage citizens to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it in celebration of the 79th year of India’s Independence. She said the initiative seeks to invoke a deep sense of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the true spirit of public participation. Highlighting the importance of the Tricolour, the DC stated that the National Flag represents India’s collective spirit, unity and pride. She urged citizens to protect, preserve and revere this monumental flag as an everlasting source of inspiration for patriotism.
