Srinagar, Aug 08: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lal Chowk, Ahsan Pardesi, on Friday conducted an extensive tour across key areas of the constituency to stay connected with grassroots issues and ensure the timely resolution of public grievances.The tour focused on engaging with local residents, reviewing developmental requirements, and addressing key concerns related to water management, infrastructure, and agriculture, the party said in a statement issued here.Accompanied by senior officials, including the Superintending Engineer (SE) and Executive Engineers (Xens) of the Jal Shakti and Irrigation & Flood Control Departments, as well as BDO Khanmouh, the MLA visited various areas, including Athwajan, Zewan, Zawoora, and Khanmouh. During these visits, Pardesi listened attentively to the grievances of residents, ensuring that immediate instructions were given for the resolution of key issues, such as drainage, irrigation, and infrastructure needs.A special focus of the visit was on Balhama, a locality that has been persistently requesting the restoration of an irrigation canal vital to the agricultural economy of the region. The MLA held detailed discussions with local community members and officials about the safeguarding, desilting, and long-term revival of the canal. “Restoring this vital water resource would greatly benefit hundreds of farming households by enhancing irrigation and boosting agricultural productivity,” he said.Pardesi stressed the importance of sustainable infrastructure development and called for the prioritisation of irrigation projects in upcoming government plans. “His visit underscored the importance of collaborative governance among the administration, local community, and civil society to achieve holistic and equitable development in the constituency,” the statement said.The tour also saw the enthusiastic participation of local residents and civil society members, demonstrating the collective resolve for positive change.
