Budgam, Aug 07: Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr G N Itoo, announced on Thursday that a mass Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) will be held across government schools in the Kashmir division from August 9 to September 5, 2025. Speaking to reporters at the Khag educational zone in Budgam, Itoo said the initiative was officially launched at the Government Middle School Alamnag Poshkar in the district.“All government schools in the Kashmir Valley will participate in this mass PTM from August 9 to September 5, 2025. The initiative will conclude on Teachers’ Day,” he said. During these meetings, district administration officials, parents, teachers, members of civil society, and School Management Committees will come together to discuss ways to improve the quality of education in government schools across the region, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Director added.Itoo said that following the implementation of NEP 2020 nationwide, several new initiatives are necessary to enhance school education. The mass PTM, he said, is one such initiative outlined in NEP 2020, aimed at collecting feedback from stakeholders to foster continuous improvement in schools.“We have adopted the slogan ‘Your village is Your school,’ highlighting that education is rooted in language, culture, and values, as emphasised by NEP 2020,” he said. “We hope to achieve active participation from parents and civil society through these mass PTMs. Additionally, PTMs will be held monthly in government schools throughout Kashmir, providing a platform for parents and teachers to discuss achievements and identify areas for further improvement.”Highlighting the significance of the first mass PTM, the Director said it was conducted at the historic Government Middle School, Alamnag, one of the oldest schools in the region. “This school started with just three students and one teacher, but now it has enrolled over 250 students. It has provided quality education, enabling its students to pursue careers as doctors and excel in various fields,” he added.Itoo said that feedback gathered during these monthly PTMs will help refine and strengthen the education system, ensuring students can compete effectively at both national and state levels.
