Srinagar, Aug 31: Jammu and Kashmir has achieved the 2nd position in the generation of Scan & Share OPD tokens and surpassed Karnataka by generating over 7,92,641 tokens in August 2023, officials said.
The Scan & Share queue-less registration process has been taken to new heights by the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission J&K and is turning out to be a game changer for ease of OPD registration for patients in the healthcare institutions of J&K.
This facility was rolled out in April 2023 and extended to 71 healthcare institutions across J&K. Trained manpower was deployed for facilitating the on-ground human resources and handholding of patients for availing of this queue-less digital service.
Dr Shafqat Khan, Additional Mission Director, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, said it has turned out to be a game-changer for the health sector in J&K and helped patients.
“General public approaching the hospitals have hugely appreciated the initiative of the government which has resulted in a penetration of around 70-90 percent conversion from physical to digital mode,” he said.
Khan said this has not only saved the time of patients and their attendants in the long queues at the hospital but also marginalised the demographic errors of the patients during their registration.
“This digital healthcare revolution envisaged to soon assign doctor consultation and tying through remote access as well. A paperless longitudinal record of health shall be maintained for all citizens that shall be accessible to stakeholders by consent of the patient,” he added.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the healthcare institutions have generated 7,92,641 tokens in a short span of 4 months’ time. “Scan and Share is making patient registration more convenient and patient-focused. This is a digital intervention meant to ease the suffering of patients and their attendants at the OPD registrations where they had to stand in large queues, for obtaining OPD tickets. We are grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey,” he said.
The Scan and Share QR-based OPD initially targeted Medical Colleges and Associated Hospitals in the first phase. The programme was subsequently extended to include all District Hospitals in the second phase and CHCs in the third phase.
The QR code-based registration aims to reduce long queues and waiting times of patients outside OPDs and was set up by the National Health Authority (NHA) as part of the ABDM.
Earlier, patients would stand in long queues for hours to complete their registration process before they could consult a doctor. However, this move has relieved people and they no longer have to wait for long hours to get consulted.
