Jammu, June 26: To enhance the beauty of Jammu City, the Municipal Corporation of Jammu has launched the ‘Clean Jammu, Green Jammu’ initiative, which aims to plant 60,000 various trees in 30 different locations throughout the city, ensuring that Jammu becomes greener, cleaner and less polluted.Dr. Devansh Yadav, the Commissioner of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), told Rising Kashmir that as part of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), they will be planting diverse green species along the roadsides. Where there are unpaved areas, proper footpaths will be constructed, and trees will also be planted in those locations.”We have already identified 30 locations across Jammu City that will be included in this programme, where these trees will be planted and footpaths will be constructed,” he said. Dr. Yadav said that they are striving to ensure that all unpaved road areas are fully covered with trees. We have chosen tree species that are suitable for the local habitat and climate conditions of Jammu City. The DFO of the Urban Forest Division Jammu is collaborating with us, and we have decided to plant specific species that will enhance the beauty of Jammu City. “We will plant 60,000 trees in 30 different locations across Jammu City. In many of these spots, individuals can adopt a tree under the Clean Jammu Green Jammu initiative. Each tree planted will have a QR code that provides details about the adopter,” he added. The JMC Commissioner further stated that most of the projects are nearing completion under this initiative. This project has been initiated as part of the Clean Jammu Green Jammu campaign.
