Srinagar, July 25:The Traffic Police headquarters Jammu and Kashmir Friday issued a detailed traffic advisory for July 26, in view of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, fragile road conditions along National Highway-44 (Jammu–Srinagar) and anticipated vehicle congestion due to single-lane restrictions at multiple stretches.

A statement issued here said that according to the advisory for July 26, subject to fair weather and road conditions, SANJY convoys, LMVs, private vehicles and passenger cars will be allowed from both directions on the Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44). However, HMVs will be allowed on alternate days, and their release will be coordinated between TCU Jammu/Srinagar and TCU Ramban.

“Cut-off timings for LMVs/Passenger Cars–Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 06:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs andJakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 07:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs, Qazigund to Jammu: 11:30 hrs to 14:00 hrs. No vehicle will be permitted to travel before or after the specified cut-off timings. For HMV movement, HMVs will be allowed to move from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after 19:00 hrs, subject to road assessment. Timings are–from Daksum to Kishtwar: 09:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs. “From Parana to Anantnag: 08:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs. HMVs (except designated HPSVs) remain restricted as per orders issued by SDMs of Chhatroo and Kokernag.Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari (SSG Road)– on a regulated basis, traffic will be allowed from–Minamarg to Srinagar: 05:00 hrs to 10:00 hrs, Sonamarg to Kargil: 11:30 hrs to 17:30 hrs. Security Forces convoys are advised to synchronise movement without disturbing Yatra traffic,” the advisory reads. “For Mughal Road–subject to road clearance by GREF, LMVs and private vehicles will be allowed both ways, while HMVs (up to 10 tyres) will only be permitted from Shopian to Poonch, between 07:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs.”

The advisory further reads that all travellers are advised to confirm real-time road status before setting out by contacting the following Traffic Control Units–Jammu: 0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, 103, Srinagar: 0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103, Ramban: 9419993745, 1800-180-7043, Udhampur: 8491928625, PCR Kishtwar: 9906154100 and PCR Kargil: 9541902330, 9541902331. “The public is advised to remain vigilant, plan their journeys accordingly, and strictly adhere to cut-off timings to ensure safe travel on all highways,” the advisory reads.
