Srinagar, July 25: Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, will organise a solemn Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra in Drass, Kargil on July 26, marking the 26th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War.As per a statement issued here, the padyatra will be led by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Labour and Employment, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth. Over 1,000 youth volunteers, along with veterans, armed forces personnel, families of martyrs, and civil society members, are expected to participate in this moving tribute.Covering a symbolic 1.5-kilometre route, the march will commence at 7:00 a.m. from the grounds of Himabass Public High School and culminate at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhimbet. Following the padyatra, the Union Ministers and 100 youth volunteers will proceed to the Kargil War Memorial, where they will lay wreaths and pay homage to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in 1999. As part of the event, 26 women bikers from the Shakti Udgosh Foundation, who have completed a long-distance tribute rally, will also be felicitated at the memorial.The programme will include a tree plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, integrating the themes of patriotic responsibility, environmental consciousness, and sustainable development in line with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision. In the run-up to the padyatra, MY Bharat has been actively engaging local communities through essay writing, painting, elocution contests, and Yuva Samvaads (youth dialogues), aiming to instil civic awareness and rekindle stories of valour and service among the youth. This commemorative walk forms part of the broader Viksit Bharat Padyatra initiative, envisioned to foster national pride, participatory citizenship, and unity. Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari in Rashtranirman’, the event highlights the collective role of citizens—especially the Amrit Peedhi—in nation-building and honouring India’s heroes.
