Srinagar, Jul 25: In a decisive effort to combat the drug menace and dismantle the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property valued at approximately Rs 55 lakh under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.“ The property, a two-storeyed house constructed on 13.5 marlas of land bearing khasra No. 2865, belongs to Khazir Mohammad Tiploo, son of Late Abdul Ahad Tiploo, a resident of Dawood Colony Anchaar,” a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.He said this action is linked to FIR No. 85/2024 under Sections 8/20, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Soura. The investigation revealed that the property was acquired through proceeds from illicit drug trafficking by the owner’s son, Hilal Ahmad Tiploo, who has been identified as a notorious drug peddler with a history of targeting local youth, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and safety, the statement said.“Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, Srinagar Police formally seized and attached the property through the prescribed legal process. The property cannot be sold, transferred, or dealt with in any manner without prior approval from the competent authorities,” police said.“This move underscores Jammu & Kashmir Police’s broader strategy to dismantle the financial networks supporting drug trafficking. The police department maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related crimes, emphasising the need to protect the community, especially its vulnerable youth, from the dangers of substance abuse,” the spokesperson said. “Srinagar Police also urged citizens to actively participate in the fight against drugs by sharing relevant information, highlighting that community cooperation is vital for building a safe, healthy, and drug-free society.”
