Qazigund, Jul 17:
Amit Kumar, a 16-year-old student from Bihar, is undertaking a unique pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave—traveling on skate shoes. On the 31st day of his journey, he reached Qazigund on Thursday, continuing his spiritual trek across Kashmir.
“I have previously completed yatras to Kedarnath and Vaishno Devi. Now, I am on the Amarnathyatra, skating through Kashmir,” said Amit, a Class 9 student.
Reflecting on his journey, Amit said, “The journey has been joyful, though there were challenges. Some road patches weren’t suitable for skating, so I had to walk in several places. After crossing the tunnel, the road became smoother and I was able to resume skating.”
Expressing excitement about nearing his destination, he said, “I am very happy that the Amarnath cave is near now. Reaching there has been the whole purpose of my journey.”
Amit urged others to undertake the yatra, assuring them of its safety. “There is nothing to worry about. Security arrangements are well in place, and I haven’t faced any problems during the journey. Everything is normal here,” he added.
He also praised the services along the route, highlighting the quality of langar facilities and the strong security presence. “We feel safe throughout the way, and the langar facilities are good. I encourage devotees in large numbers to come and pay obeisance at the cave,” Amit said.
Calling the journey a proud achievement, Amit said, “It has been a joyful moment traveling all the way from Bihar to Kashmir on skates. I feel proud to have come this far.”
