Jammu, July 17: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police, Bhim Sen Tuti, Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the Independence Day celebrations across the Jammu division. The meeting discussed the multi-agency coordination for the smooth conduct of Independence Day in Jammu.An official statement issued here said that the meeting witnessed participation from senior officials of the Police, CRPF, BSF, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, JPDCL, various departmental heads, and executing agencies.The central celebration is scheduled at M A Stadium, Jammu. The Divisional Commissioner emphasised the importance of celebrating the national festival with enthusiastic public involvement and seamless coordination at the divisional, district, sub-divisional and tehsil levels. Key aspects discussed included barricading, seating, parking, traffic regulation, building illumination, uninterrupted power and water supply, security arrangements, sanitation, healthcare and cultural performances.The Sports Council and Public Works Department were directed to commence renovation works at the stadium, while the Hospitality Department was tasked with erecting waterproof tents and ensuring adequate seating. JPDCL was instructed to illuminate designated buildings and ensure round-the-clock power supply. The Directorate of Health Services will deploy ALS ambulances and medical teams. The Jammu Municipal Corporation will maintain sanitation in and around the venue, and SRTC will provide transportation for participants and the general public.Each department has been directed to appoint a nodal officer, and a dedicated control room will be established at the stadium for real-time coordination. The Deputy Commissioner Jammu was asked to ensure timely printing of invitation cards and finalise cultural programmes. The ceremonial parade will include contingents from BSF, CRPF, SSB, JKP, JKAP, IRP, SDRF, JKFPF, JKFES, NCC, and school students, along with brass and pipe bands from BSF, JKP, and various schools.The Information Department will install a Public Address System, Floriculture Department will handle floral decorations, and Jal Shakti will provide drinking water facilities. A detailed traffic management plan will be implemented to ensure hassle-free access to the venue. The Divisional Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners to make foolproof arrangements in their respective districts. Heads of all government departments have been asked to hoist the Tricolour at their respective offices. The IGP, Jammu, instructed for robust security deployment and smooth traffic movement during the celebrations.
