Srinagar, Mar 11 :Prime Minister NarendraModi is set to virtually inaugurate a PradhanMantriBhartiyaJanaushadhiPariyojana (PMBJP) outlet at the Srinagar Railway Station on Tuesday, according to officials.
Chief Area Manager (CAM) Kashmir, SaqibYousufYatoo (IRTS), informed Rising Kashmir that PM Modi will inaugurate the PMBJP outlet, emphasizing its aim to provide quality medicines at affordable prices, especially to the poor and disadvantaged.
“This outlet aims to make quality medicines available at affordable prices for all, particularly the poor and disadvantaged, through exclusive outlets, so as to reduce out-of-pocket expenses in healthcare,” said CAM Saqib.
He added that passengers can avail of this facility starting Tuesday, which will be particularly beneficial for those traveling from Srinagar railway station.
The PMBJP campaign, launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, aims to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the masses. PMBJP stores offer generic drugs, which are equivalent in quality and efficacy to expensive branded drugs but are available at lesser prices.
PM Modi recently emphasized the significance of Jan AushadhiKendras, which provide quality generic medicines at affordable prices through dedicated outlets, stating that they have empowered the people, especially the middle class.
“The target is to increase the number of Jan AushadhiKendras to 25,000,” PM Modi stated. Currently, there are 9,303 such centers across India, according to the website. The Union Health Ministry plans to raise this number to 10,000 by the end of the year, with outlets offering 1,800 drugs and 285 surgical items.
