Ludhiana, Jun 14: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday campaigned in support of the party candidate Jeewan Gupta for the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election scheduled for June 19 and strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for turning the entire Punjab government into an election machinery out of fear of defeat.
Chugh in a statement said, “AAP has deployed its ministers, MLAs, and officers on every street corner of Ludhiana West. The desperation is evident. This is not campaigning — this is a panic reaction to the growing public anger.”
Calling Ludhiana the financial capital of Punjab, Chugh said the city’s business owners are crying out for help, but the deaf AAP government has done nothing in the last 3.5 years. “Law and order has collapsed. In just the last six months, Punjab has seen over 19 grenade and blast incidents — and the government remains silent,” he said.
He added, “The much-hyped ‘Yudh Nashian De Virudh’ was nothing but a publicity stunt. No kingpin has been caught, only a few pawns — and that too for show. The liquor mafia, cable mafia, and drug networks continue to thrive under AAP rule while the common people suffer.”
The BJP leader asserted that the people of Ludhiana have made up their minds. “They will not vote for AAP or Congress. This time, the people are voting for the BJP,” he said.
